Gahanga- City
Gahanga is a very densely populated suburb of the bustling capital of Kigali, which has almost 1,000,000 residents. Called the ‘Land of 1000 Hills’, even in the cities of Rwanda there are rolling hills and terraced neighborhoods. Everywhere are cars, busy markets, busses, restaurants, and entrepreneurs making Rwanda one of the best places in Africa to do business.
Despite the urban scene, however, most families are substance farmers, which means that they grow just enough food on their own land to feed their family and then sell anything that’s extra. Common foods include grilled fish, lamb, chicken, beef, French fries, sweet potatoes, avocados, rice, flat bread, and lots of tropical fruits like bananas, plantains, passion fruit, and pineapple.
